We’re counting down the days til Jack and the Beanstalk this Easter at Sidmouth’s Connaught Gardens. The perfect Easter treat for families around East Devon. Here’s a bit more about our production team who’ve been working hard to bring you the show.

Past roles include; Blackwing, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (2018), Ensemble, Sister Act (2016), Private Peaceful (2016), Tommy, Sleeping Beauty (2015), Ensemble, Guys and Dolls (2015), Ensemble, Kiss Me Kate (2013). Sarah is excited to be part of the team bringing Jack and the Beanstalk to the stage, aided by her past experience in the local area.
Helen has been making clothes for herself since 1987 and ran her own textile design business for 8 years. A huge fan of the arts & theatre, this is her first foray into costume design but she loves nothing better than a challenge! Helen works as a mentor and trainer for artists and makers, as well as running a number of networking events in Devon. Her organisation The Creative Business Network has been set up to provide support, advice and training for those running a creative business or wanting to start one up. She also works closely with Exeter Phoenix and delivers digital marketing sessions for their customers.
Having studied performing arts at college, Chloe recently moved to Cornwall to take up a position performing at Haven Holiday parks. Chloe trained at East Devon Dance and has music and rhythm running through her veins. You’ll often spot her practicing steps as she walks or singing along to the radio in the car. She also enjoys a close relationship with her sister Sarah.
Mike’s first theatrical involvement was in February this year for Honiton Community Theatre Company’s pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He enjoyed the experience so much, that when Alex asked him to help out with his panto, he couldn’t say no. “I really enjoy making and sourcing props and creating the sets. I am a plumber by trade but I do like the camaraderie behind the scenes of a performance”
Jack is a writer with a passion for pantomime. He writes scripts for professional productions and amateur groups across the United Kingdom and internationally. Jack has a wide range of scripts available to read and produce via his website (www.jacknorthcott.co.uk). Current scripts include: Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, Aladdin, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and he is looking forward to adding the following titles later this year: Cinderella, Dick Whittington, Peter Pan, Robinson Crusoe.
City of Light Theatre
Founded in 2017 by Director/Producer Alex Jackson, City of Light Theatre is a theatre company with roots firmly planted in Devon’s fertile soil. It’s first show; Michael Morpurgo’s Out of the Ashes played to sell-out audiences in Exeter at The Bike Shed in January 2017 and The Boat Shed in July 2017, and will enjoy a rural tour in May 2018. Jack and the Beanstalk is City of Light Theatre’s first pantomime outing, but probably won’t be the last (oh no it won’t)!
